Living with a host family in Canada enriches the student’s educational and travel experience.
Living with a host family in Canada enriches the student’s educational and travel experience and allows for a greater understanding of Canada, its culture, and its heritage.
Daily interaction within the family encourages international students to practice their English language skills in a comfortable environment. Accommodation and meals are provided by the families.
Host families are carefully selected and screened by our staff to ensure their commitment to making our international student’s stay a pleasant and memorable one.
Host families provide an English immersion environment, friendship, support, and guidance to program participants as well as an additional level of supervision in a safe and caring atmosphere.
The host family is a central and very important part of the program. Canada Linc coordinators and staff work diligently to support our families, to be available to answer questions and to provide ongoing communication during the student’s stay in Canada. A great deal of effort is put into managing student/family placements. Choosing which student to place with a family is done carefully to ensure the best ‘fit’ possible. Our coordinators strive to match families and students based on shared interests and mutual hobbies.
The benefits and rewards of hosting a Canada Linc student are numerous. Not only do host families learn about another culture and share Canadian hospitality with their guests, but new and lasting friendships often develop. Canadian teens studying another language may get a chance to practice language skills with their visiting student and many host families have traveled abroad to visit the families of their students.
